If you could turn back time, at what point in your life would you go back to? What would you do differently?
I haven't been QoTD-ing for awhile so here goes nothing!:
Right now I would like to go back to the time when I was preparing for SPM (Malaysian version of SATs), to the time when I was rebellious, impossible and angsty. I didn't care what others thought of me and I defied all rules. My lackadaisical attitude cost me my SPM results...and further down the road my early Pre-U days and former university grades. I went from broken short-term relationships to more broken short-term relationships, making more enemies than friends and basically became a person I didn't even like. I would like to change my apathetic ways of those years, perhaps erase those rebellious moments and replace them with dedication in my studies.
I think I would not venture into any relationships too, I'm filled with remorse every time I think of those relationships. I never benefitted from them and I lost confidence each time I broke up.
But deep down, I'm thankful for those experiences. Without them I would not have ended up where I am now. I often wonder about the other road not taken, would I have been a more matured and experienced person if I had not gone through all the trouble? Or would I have lived a dull, uneventful life?
I think my life thrives on drama. Life without drama is dull.
For me, in no particular order would be:
- Backstreet Boys
- N'Sync
- Caught in the Act
- All-4-One
- 911
- 5ive
- Boyz II Men
- The Moffatts
- Boyzone
- Take That
Yeah, my embarrassing teenybopper adulations of the 90's. I'm sure there are alot more, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
This is like one of the toughest questions I had encountered. Me, being a lover of food and all things delicious can never make a wise decision on this. But if I really had to choose it would be the Korean ja jjang myun. It used to be Assam Laksa but I've been eating that since I was crawling as a baby.
What was the one toy you wanted as a kid that your parents never bought you?
Submitted by Princess of Darkness.
(Almost) Every little girl during my childhood years had a Barbie, a My Little Pony or a Care Bear. Sometimes, some girls have all three including the playhouse sets and friends that come along. I had a handful of Barbies but all I ever wanted was a My Little Pony. Maybe I was too young to remember whether it was pricey or not that time but after watching all those MLP cartoons, I will go sooo crazy over the ponies and I would want them so badly. I finally got one two years ago, at the ripe old age of 21.
It was called Strawberry something but I decided to rename it as Princess Sparkles because at that time, I was watching the OC and in the storyline the character Rachel Bilson was playing had a MLP named Princess Sparkles.
This much-awaited toy however, is no longer something I would play with but it has been put away in the box under my desk. Perhaps I bought it as a novelty, an antidote to my deprived childhood memories. Maybe one day I can give it to my offspring. You'd never know if MLP would make a comeback in a future.
What's the most famous movie you've never seen?
Submitted by Mike.
That would be The Breakfast Club which was set in the 1980s. One of the most valid reasons for me not watching it would be because I was born in 1984 and the movie was aired in 1985; which makes me approximately 1 year old when they showed it. Since I'm born in December, I was probably a few months old when it became a blockbuster hit during those days. I love the 1980s although I was practically an infant at that time. I love the music, the fashion (which is now back, by the way) and the people who were born during that era.
I read about a play which was staged in Malaysia that based its storyline on The Breakfast Club. That was how I got to know about this movie. From the article, I found out it was the movie of the 80s. I'm dying to watch it but I don't know where to get a copy of it and I tried torrents; there weren't that many seeds.
Perhaps someone has a DVD or VCD that I can loan?
How do you beat writer's block?
Submitted by marvel is my pen name.
First, I do some breathing exercises I learnt from yoga. Then I think about things that make me happy ie. someone I care about. Sometimes I just get away from my desk for awhile to walk around and do something else to get my mind off it. Somehow or rather when I get back to work, I would have overcome my writer's block.
How are you ringing in the New Year tonight?
I've already celebrated the New Year about 12 hours ago. It was mediocre compared to the celebrations the past two years. The countdown I had was at One Utama. I went there purposely to see Nicholas Teo AKA Zhang Tong Liang sing and to watch the fireworks display. He sang very well and it was a good performance. I first saw him sing on the day of the Merdeka celebrations. At that time I didn't know who he was and it wasn't until I watched his hit drama series, Smilling Pasta that I became interested in this Malaysian Chinese singer. There were alot of 'la-la' people in One Utama. I think its because the majority of the singers were Chinese singers and all the Chinese-speaking la-las wanted to come celebrate the NY with their favourite idols.
I bumped into Chien, my friend of 10 years. I was shocked by the sudden change of her hairstyle. I know this sounds mean but her hair made her look 'auntie'.He sang very well and it was a good performance. I first saw him sing on the day of the Merdeka celebrations. Since I was limping around with the killer pumps and my heel bleeding, I wasn't enjoying myself very much. It was towards the countdown that I enjoyed the wonderful fireworks outside of the building in my mother's car. We had a sun roof so I popped my head out of it and felt the night's cool air and the beauty of the fireworks in the sky. That was how I spent my NY's day :)
Are you a re-gifter? Have you ever re-gifted?
Submitted by Sandals.
I think I re-gifted once because there was something I received which I didn't like. However, I am tempted to regift this Christmas because I want to save on presents. I was thinking of giving my old Game Boy Advance SP which in fact is only about 2 years old to my younger brother who wants it very much. The reason why I'm giving it is because I don't use it anymore and I'm getting a Pink PSP soon. Actually, I was wondering whether I should splurge on Rain's Coming World Tour Concert or get a Pink PSP. Rain's uber hot and Pink PSP is super cool. What do you think?
Pink PSP or Rain?
When do you start your holiday shopping?
Submitted by Murphy.
I guess I will start shopping for clothes on the 9th of December when I get to SG. Also, I will get some Dior makeup and Death Note manga while I am there. Hopefully I have enough cash when I go there. Unofficially I started buying clothes when I was in Hong Kong in October but it was mostly autumn clothing so its not counted. I hope mom buys me clothes too XD
How did you pick your Vox name? Does it mean something?
Submitted by LeendaDLL.
This may sound very low of me but it used to be someone's LJ username. Since she deleted her journal and I found this name to be unique I decided to use it in Vox. Also, it means acid nitric and it just sounded cool to me so I picked it.
